As you might expect, the City Council and I have been contacted by residents of
the Crossroads Subdivision who are greatly concerned about the decision to widen Pine
Avenue to five lanes. None of us were aware that ACHD had decided to widen this
arterial from its original three lanes.
This decision, made without the benefit of our input, or the input of affected
neighbors, will greatly irrlpact the City of Meridian, especially those residents of
Crossroads Subdivision. We understand that you are holding hearings on the issues
raised by this decision. We strongly encourage you to do all that you can to mitigate the
effects this road widening will have on Crossroads residents. If anything can be done to
soften this impact, it should be done. We would be pleased to be part of the discussion
and ask that you tell us how we can best provide information and ideas to you.
We also note that the relationship between the City of Meridian and ACHD has
improved significantly over the last few years. , Situatiw;~k.°-rhi~ne-man ecessaril.
strain that relationship. We want to work with you to obtain the best possible result for
'~he~'rossroads residents, and just as importantly, work to find ways to avoid similar
situations in the future. Better cooperation and communication between us is critical to
managing growth in our community.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Respectfully,
