U.S. 20/26 Corridor Preservation Study
The Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and the Idaho Transportation
Department (ITD) held a public scoping meeting for the U.S. 20/26 Corridor Preservation project in
May 2006. Several access management options were presented. The general public voiced strong
support for an expressway.
The local governments along the corridor would like your input on access management for the U.S.
20/26 corridor—in particular, for an expressway between Middleton Road and Black Cat Road. An
expressway option could include future interchanges at several locations along U.S. 20/26.
This option will require local governments to adopt policies that restrict access on and off the
roadway, and to support building frontage and backage roads that would carry local traffic to and from
properties along the corridor. It will also require preserving property at designated intersections.
This is an important decision. Your comments will be used by the local governments, ITD and
COMPASS to determine the level of support for the expressway option.
Please let us know what you like and dislike about this option.
