HomeMy WebLinkAbout844 General Election / Polling Places• • ORDINANCE NO. ~~~ :7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN PROCLAIMING A GENERAL CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 2. 1999. DESIGNATING THE POLLING PLACES AND TIMES. AND ORDERING THE CITY CLERK TO GIVE NOTICE OF SUCH ELECTION: AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL. OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN. IDAHO THAT: SECTION 1: The General Citv Election will be held in and for the Citv of Meridian on the 2nd day of November, 1999, at which time there will be elected Mayor and Council Members for Seat #1 and Seat #3 to serve for a term of four v_ ears. or until the election and qualification of their successors. SECTION 2: The following are designated as the polling places for such election and which shall be open at 8:00 AM and remain open until 8:00 PM: FOR THE FIRST PRECINCT #800 American Legion Hall 22 W. Broadway Avenue Meridian, Idaho • FOR THE SECOND PRECINCT #801 Meridian City Hall 33 E. Idaho Avenue Meridian, Idaho FOR THE THIRD PRECINCT #802 Meridian Library 1326 W. Cherry Lane Meridian, Idaho SECTION 3: The City Clerk, for and on behalf of the Mayor and Council, shall give public notice of the time and place of holding such General City Election by posting such notice in three public places or publishing such notice in at least two issues of the Valley News, a newspaper printed and published in the City of Meridian, Idaho, the first publication of such notice to be made not less than 45 days prior to the date of such City Election and the last publication not less than 15 days prior to the date of the election; the notice so published shall state the polling place in each precinct and the hours during which the polls shall be open for the purpose of voting; said notice to contain such information in accordance with the requirements of Section 50-436 of the Idaho Code. • GENERAL ELECTION /POLLING PLACE ORDINANCE PAGE 1 • • C PASSED by the Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this 7th day of September, 1999. PETITIONS OF NOMINATION: Petitions of nomination may be picked up at Meridian City Hall, 33 East Idaho Avenue, Meridian, Idaho on Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The last day for filing petitions of nomination will be September 23, 1999. HOURS OF VOTING: The polls for said General City Election shall be open at 8:00 AM and will remain open for voting until 8:00 PM Mountain Standard Time, on said date of election. POLLING PLACES: For electors residing in: First (1st) Precinct #800 will vote at American Legion Hall, 22 W. Broadway Avenue, Second (2nd) Precinct #801 will vote at Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Idaho Avenue, Third (3rd) Precinct #802 will vote at Meridian Library, 1326 W. Cheny Lane, Meridian, Idaho. PLACE OF REGISTRATION: Electors may register at Meridian City Hall, 33 East Idaho Avenue, Meridian, Idaho on Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The last day to pre-register will be October 8, 1999.
