OR OTHER ASSOCIATION OF PERSONS FROM HAVING IN POSSESSImJ" OR
OPERATmG SUCH DEVICES ~:ns:'HIN TH3 CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO, PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF, A~"D DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE I'L' ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MERID IAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO:
Seotion 1. For the purpose ot this Ordinance the following words
and phrases shall have the meAning respeotively asoribed -to them a.s
tollows :-

(8' A" Punchboard", wi thin the mea,ning of this Ordinance, shall be
a board containing a number of holes or receptacles of unifo~ size in
whioh are placed slips of paper or other substance, in H capsule or 0
otherwise, upon Which is written or printed token numbers, fIgures,
insigni a, characters, symbols, letters ~r words, or combinations thereof
whIch may be punched ar drawn from said hole or reeoptacle by s.ny person
upon payment of a consideration, and wbo shall obtain an award of merch-
andise or money only upon the chance of drawing the token number, figure
insignia, character, symbol, letter or word, or combination thereof,
which has preTiously been designated to pay a prize.
(b) The term "Chance Spindle", within the mea.ning of this Ord inanoe,
shall be Any spindle , stick, pin or other device on which ma.y be fastened
by any method. slips of pa.per, envelopes, cards, or other devices, upon
upon which is written or printed token numbers, figures, inSignia,
Characters, symbols, letters or words, or combinstlons thereof, and which
may be drawn by an~ person from said spindle or holder, upon payment of .
consideration, who may obtain an award of merchandise or money, only upon
the ohance of drawing the token nuuber, figure, insignia, character,
symbol, letter or word or COmbination thereof,which has previously been
designated to pay a prize.

shall be any game in wh tch the obta.ining of a prize is based solely upon
the chl?nce of the plsyer. upon payment of a considerntion, to draw or
otherwise secure a token number, figure, insignia, character, sJUIlbol,
letter or word. or combination thereOf, whioh is design~ted to ~y a prize,
in cash or merchandise.
(d) 'Phe word "person" shall mea,n and jnelude an:rperson, firm or
partnership, corporation. Or other 8ssociation of persons.
Seo tiOD 2. It shall be unlawful for f'ny person, firm or partnership,
corporation. or other association of persons, to have in possession for
the purpose of having operated or used on the premises of, or in connection
with the business' of a.ny person, firm or partnership, corporation, or other
assooiation of persons, or to operate, within the corporate limits 0: s~id

Section 3. Any person or persons violating the provisiOns of.-thh
Ordinanoe, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishablo by p fine Dot ..
exoeeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), together with costs,' and in ,-
detaul t of such payment shall be committed to the Ci t~, Jail of the City of
Meri'Ji~n, and a.t hard labor upon the streets or elsewhere for _the bene!! t
ot the City of MeridiAn, until the fine and costs have been satisfied, not
exceeding one da~t :t'or every ;;;>2.00 of the fIne Rnd costs.
Seotion4. An emergenoy existing therefor, which emergency is hereby
declsred to exist, this Ordinence shall be in full torce ~nd effect trOll
the dRte of its paSBage and approTsl and pUblics-tion..
