ORDINANCE NO. 22.
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING I<'OR THE REGm.STION OF TRAFFIC upon TtlE STREET3
AND HI(}W,VATS IN TJU:; CITY Ot' MERIDIAN, PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF

VIOLATION THEREOF. . . .
BE IT ORDAINED BV THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDUN,
Seotion 1. For the purpose of this ordinanoe the following words ana
phrAses ahnll have the meaning respectively ascribed to them as follows:
(8) VEHICLE--Ever~r device in, upon, or by which any person or property
is or maybe transported or drawn upon ~ street or highway, exoept de-
vioes moved solely by human power or used exolusively upon stationary
rails or tracks; tor the purpose or this Ordinance a bicycle or a ridden
nnimal sba.ll be deemed R vehicle.
(bJ AUTHORli::a:n EMERGENCY VEHICLE--Vehicles of the Fire Department, Pollce
Depllrtment And such nmbulnnoes nnd emergency vehicles as may be designated
or ~uthorlzea by the Chief of Police.

(e) PARK OR PARKING--The standing ot ~ vehicle, whether occupied or not,

vehicle.

3eotion 2. For the purpoee of the regulation eDll control of traffic upon
the streets of Meridian there is hereby established 8 restricted vehioular
d istriot "M the Chief' of 'Pollce is herebv authorhed FInd directed to
designate immedi8tely, ani from time to time hereAfter as 1s deemed neoes-
sary for the control of traffic, all streets ~nd parts of streets to be in-
olu4ed within 8~id Aistrict, sod to designate the hours and limits of
time of parking within suoh distriot, 8nd for suoh purpose the Chief of
Polioe is also hereb,y authorized ond directed to erect nnd place suoh signs
witbin.suoh districts as shall give notice of the Various hours AnJ times
of pA~king within suoh distriot.

Section 3. The Chief Of po11oe is hereby ~uthorizcd to designllte suoh

Seotion 4. The Chief Of "'oliee is hereby authorized and direoted to
designnte londing and unloading zones, within said restrioted vehicular
distriot, ond no person shall atop, stC)od or park a vehiole, within or
nt s~ld designated zones. for ~qypurpose or length of time other than
for the expeditions and 90twtl loading or unloading of passengers, mate-
rinls, goods or marohl/ndise. provided, that ; n pla.ces where, and IJt hours
\vhen, pr-rking for the lo~ding or unloading of materials, goods, or meroh-

Section 5. No regulation prescribed under authority of ~ectjons 2, 3 and
4 of this ordin"nce sh!>ll -become effeotive unless and unti 1 the Chief Of

ective d~te thereof, upon a mB,p to be kept ~nd mDint~ined !>t the City
Clerk's office.

Section 6. The Chief of police is hereby authorized to c~use lAnes or
mprkin~~ to be p~lnted or pl~ced upon the curbs ~nd/or upon the ~treets,
designating the p~rking space for esch vehicle, which s~id la.nes or
m~rking~sh~ll be so painted or plnoed as to sho~ either pprallel or
diagonal parking ~t suoh pl~ces. It sball be unlawful, where such sp~ces

the operator to make the braked wbeel skid on a dry, lavel, clean pavement.
