To Meridian City Planning & Zoning,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed developments of "The Fields" (899
homes), "Rockwell Greens" (422 homes), and the 81 townhomes and businesses west of Owyhee
High School.
The current infrastructure, including McMillan, Star, Cherry, and Ten Mile roads, is already
overcrowded. As a resident of "The Oaks North" community, I have already seen how Owyhee High
School has negatively impacted traffic on McMillan Road. Adding over 1,400 new residences will
significantly worsen this situation.
Furthermore, I understand that the Black Cat roundabout project has been delayed until 2028 due to
budget constraints, and the widening of Black Cat Road is not scheduled until approximately 2035.
With “Lennar” Development already breaking ground on 348 homes at the southeast corner of Black
Cat and McMillan, our community faces the reality of a tremendous traffic nightmare.
My mother lives 8.5 miles east of me on McMillan and Coverdale Rd at Salmon Creek Retirement
Home. Yesterday it took me 40 minutes to get home! Again…8.5 miles west on McMillan at 3:45pm
took me 40 minutes, and it will only get worse if the building doesn’t stop before the city does more to
improve the current infrastructure.

I urge you to halt these developments until the necessary road widening and
infrastructure improvements are completed to support this level of growth.
