Hello, I'm writing to share my concerns and plea for the city of Meridian to not go through with the proposed "The Fields" development across from Owyhee High School. I cannot attend the meeting on 5/7/26 at City Hall, so please add my comments to the record. Some of the proposal sounds great- parks, retail, restaurants, etc. This area can certainly use those "amenities". However, the addition of 602 traditional single-family homes clustered together, with 297 town houses around them, is just NOT smart in any way... The number of homes already in this area is growing beyond the capacity for the roads to handle. Traffic is a disaster as is and this is before the homes that are currently being built are even fully occupied. On top of the traffic, our schools are already maxed out. Even with the recent boundary changes, the schools are full. Unless there is a plan to build another elementary, middle and high school within the next 2 years, adding more homes in this area is ridiculous. When will this city FINALLY catch on that we CANNOT allow more homes to be built unless infrastructure and schools improve. However, even if that were promised, it'll still take years over construction and traffic will remain an issue. School overcapacity will remain an issue. We moved here six years ago to get away from over crowded streets and schools. We loved Meridian because it wasn't that, along with so many other wonderful aspects. Please do not allow Meridian to become this way. I would like to know what our community can do beyond emailing and calling to make sure our voices are heard. I look forward to hearing back. Thanks, Brittany Williams 1
