Regarding the rezone of the current land to R-15 and R-8, I request that the members of the commission
deny efforts to rezone from a lower density to a higher density. I am opposed to rezoning of the
approximate 44 acres to R-15. These 44 acres should not be rezoned to anything higher than R-8. For
the approximate 157 acres of R-8, these 157 acres should not be rezoned to more than a R-4
zone. Medium High Density Residential (R-15) should NOT be approved.
The acreage for the city park proposed should be increased and the residential and/or commercial zoning
should be decreased to accommodate more acreage for city park (i.e. open space).
By continually approving large developments such as the The Fields Development, the city will not
preserve the character and quality of life in our neighborhood. This development is in conflict with the
City of Meridian’s plan to responsibly promote growth as laid out in the City of Meridian’s
adopted strategic plan . Increased density will lead to overcrowding, strain on local resources such as
schools and utilities, and a decline in the peaceful environment that makes this area a desirable place to
live. Once you develop the land to high residential, you will never get the open space back.
