Greetings, I received information about a huge 396 unit apartment complex that has been turned down
previously by the Meridian P&Z and is being presented again for approval before the Meridian City
Council February 19, 2026.
I vehemently oppose this massive complex for several practical reasons. TRAFFIC JAMS: I live off
Overland Road halfway between Eagle Road and Coverdale Road. Every Monday through Friday from
7:00 AM to 8:30 AM, I see westbound traffic on Overland Road backed up from Eagle Road to Cloverdale
Road. Same scenario from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Same exact traffic pattern for traffic going
eastbound. Traffic backed up from Cloverdale Road to Eagle Road.
APARTMENT CONGESTION. I did a search for apartment complexes within a 1 mile radius of Eagle Road
and Overland Road. There were 12 apartment complexes listed. Here are some of the larger ones and
the number of apartments. Seasons at Meridian 360 units, Sagecrest Apartments 192 units, Silver Ridge
112 Units, Cortland South Meridian 336 units, High Point on Overland 190 units, Dovetail Meridian
Apartments 240 units, Southridge Apartments expansion just approved 476 apartments. That equals
2,172 apartments in a 1 mile radius.
Enough is enough, Meridian is turning into the Apartment City of the West. Do we, do you, really want
that? We need to slow down the growth and let the road system, schools, fire stations and police catch
up. Most of the developers of these huge apartment complexes are headquartered and live in other
cities. They obviously do not care about Meridian, ID. All they care about is money.
Not that it matters, but I am a native Idahoan that has lived in the Boise/Meridian area for 65 years. I
think we need to manage this mass migration this area is experiencing responsibly. We have enough
huge apartment complexes in the Eagle Road / Overland Road area. Let them build them somewhere
else.
Thank you for your consideration,
Eddie Garcia
