APPROVAL OF MINUTES: August 27, 2025, meeting minutes approved. OLD BUSINESS [ACTION ITEMS] Commissioner Cuhaciyan discussed the art contest. Commissioners Cuhaciyan and Danesh worked on a theme for the contest, and they came up with, “why is recycling meaningful to you”. They will work on the contest details over the next couple of months. SWAC members then passed the motion to move forward with doing the art contest in September 2026. Commissioner Cory in the SWAC meeting asked Republic Services if they would be willing to give a tour of the Meridian Transfer Station (MTS). SWAC members then passed the motion to change October 22nd meeting to start at 3:30pm at the MTS. NEW BUSINESS [ACTION ITEMS] Peter and Vince Gilbert, owners of Environmentally Conscious Recycling (ECR), gave a presentation about their business and services they provide in mattress recycling. They currently have a facility in Oregon and are looking to expand in the Treasure Valley. They are opening a shop in Garden City and looking to get mattresses from the public and commercial distributors. They are hoping to open in January 2026. There is a charge to drop off mattresses and to have ECR pick up mattresses. Bill Nary commented that SWAC nor the City Council cannot direct the public or make rules to benefit a particular private business. Page 2 of 2 All Materials presented at public meetings shall become property of the City of Meridian STAKEHOLDER UPDATES Rachelle Klein from Republic Services commented that they are getting closer to opening the Regional Sawtooth Landfill and in the future would like to give tours.
