To whom it may concern,
I would like to write and tell you that I hope you will vote against this new zoning plan that
Brighton has brought to you to build more homes in the empty space between the South
YMCA and the St. Luke’s office that is on Hill Rd. There is already too much traffic in that area
between existing homes, traffic from the Y and now the new homes that Corey Barton is
building across the street. Bringing in even more homes is only going to deplete our already
over depleted resources, cause more traffic which will cause more frustrations. Everyday we
have people speeding through the neighborhoods trying to beat the traffic or making poor
decisions because they are impatient, and this will only make the matter worse. Hillsdale and
Mountain View are already at capacity, so it makes no sense to add more homes to add to
already overcrowded schools. There are very limited food/commercial options in this area
and I feel like the previously proposed commercial lots were a much better fit for this area. I
feel like Brighton is just trying to add more money in his pocket instead of bettering the
community by building something useful. I understand that we have a housing shortage and
that the cost of homes is very expensive, I don’t however believe that it is in the cities best
interest to cram as many people as possible into such a tiny area to then create more
problems. We already don’t have enough water to support the amount of homes in the
area and with the new Corey Barton homes going in, I worry what next summer will bring
with the water. If you add 71 more homes, that is more people who are going to be needing
to water on an already stretched thin system. Please consider the damage that more homes
will cause and please consider telling Brighton that he must keep it as commercial.
Thank you,
Heidi Bitsch Matheus
