Hello,
As a current Century Farm resident, I am writing you in opposition of allowing the space at
Amity and Hillsdale to be reclassified as residential townhomes. The neighboring elementary
school and Mountain View high school are both already over capacity, in fact, Mountain
View high school has teachers that don’t even have classrooms because they’re so full.
These teachers have to run around from room trim with carts. It’s insane. On top of the
concern for the impact on the schools, which are already stressed to the point of breaking,
the traffic situation in this part of town is all also quite poor; not reminiscent of how the
Treasure Valley needs to be. I work downtown and outside of rush-hour. I can easily get to
work in 25 minutes no problem, but during the morning and afternoon commute it’s at least
45 minutes. The number of vehicles that this would bring to the area is untenable.
This area is very underserved by commercial opportunities and so to re-classify this space
would be a huge disservice. The businesses that we do have are incredibly repetitive and so
in opportunity for new things to come in, would be more than welcome. I understand that it’s
been for sale for a little while, but closing that door would be quite a loss for the people in
my area and the benefit only for that developers who will make their money and leave
behind the wreckage of traffic and and overstressed school system.
Thank you for your consideration.
