I would like to implore you NOT to approve the city code amendment regarding drive-throughs.
This effort by Meridian's City Planning department to eliminate the need for conditional use
permits for restaurant drive-thru construction is NOT acting in the best interest of the city and
its residents. It is NOT okay for applications to be considered and approved by unelected
planning staff without the need for public hearings.
We have lived on the border of the Paramount subdivision for the past 17+ years. It’s disheartening to
repeatedly deal with both City Council and City Planning members who do not value residents’ concerns
and try to circumnavigate established policies and procedures.
I am asking you to deny this modification to the rules. Unelected officials should
not have the power to make decisions like this without public input or city council
approval.
