Greetings, I am writing to ask City Council members to please deny this transfer of power to city staff. My understanding based on public comments by city staff that this would eliminate the opportunity for input from residents of Meridian as well as any hearings where residents can speak directly to City Council members. Being a Paramount resident next to the Sagarra development, I have been exposed to several loopholes that appear to be work-arounds so that developers get the designs they want and it only needs director level oversight. One example is the height of the townhouses in the Sagarra development that was only supposed to be three levels, but is now four levels. Another one that I recently became aware of is the duplexes being built in Sagarra which clearly look to be three levels, when they were only supposed to be two levels. Sadly, I am guessing that both of these decisions only required director level approval and were not made known to city council members. I feel that elected members should provide more oversight, certainly not less, to make sure the intent of the developments match what they have approved. When you grant this authority to staff members, I feel that you are not representing the residents of your community. In my experience, Council members tend to provide more thoughtful and comprehensive consideration to these issues. Please deny this request and continue to provide public and resident input especially for drive-thru requests. Respectfully, Jenn Card 1
