HomeMy WebLinkAbout25-2537 Fees - FY 26 Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Services CITY OF MERIDIAN RESOLUTION NO. 25-2537 BY THE CITY COUNCIL: CAVENER, LITTLE ROBERTS, OVERTON, STRADER, TAYLOR, WHITLOCK A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE FISCAL YEAR 2026 RATE SCHEDULE OF SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL SERVICES; AUTHORIZING FINANCE DEPARTMENT TO COLLECT SUCH FEES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 21 of the City's solid waste franchise agreement with Republic Services, Inc., originally entered into on January 18, 2000, and approved by City Council Resolution no. 285,providing for annual review of rates and charges for services provided, Republic Services identified necessary updates to the solid waste collection fee schedule and presented proposed changes to the Solid Waste Advisory Commission and to the Meridian City Council; and WHEREAS,the household hazardous waste collection service fee that has previously been collected by Republic Services as part of the residential solid waste collection fee will now be collected separately by Meridian Utility Billing Services, and thus will be listed as a new line item fee; WHEREAS,the Solid Waste Advisory Commission and Public Works Department staff recommend that the City Council adopt the FY26 Rate Schedule of Solid Waste Collection Services, as set forth in Exhibit A hereto; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Idaho Code section 63-1311A, following publication of notice and public hearing,the City Council of Meridian did,by formal motion, approve the FY26 Rate Schedule of Solid Waste Collection Services, as set forth in Exhibit A hereto; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN CITY, IDAHO: Section 1. That the FY26 Rate Schedule of Solid Waste Collection Services, as set forth in Exhibit A, is hereby adopted. Section 2. That, as of its effective date, the FY26 Rate Schedule of Solid Waste Collection Services, as set forth in Exhibit A,will supersede all previous solid waste collection fees and fee schedules previously adopted. Section 3. That the Finance Department of the City of Meridian is hereby authorized to implement and carry out the collection of fees as set forth in Exhibit A. Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect on October 1, 2025. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Meridian, Idaho,this 16th day of September, 2025.
