Dear Meridian City Council, I am writing to oppose, reject and protest the changing of zoning for this project. Originally zoned an R-4, which fit very nicely with every single residential home in the area (which is zoned R-8). Suddenly changing an existing R-4 into an R-15 will have many consequences that are obvious and also several that can not be foreseen. This appears to me, and many other neighbors, to be a money grab by the developer without any thought towards the existing neighborhood or its residence. There are several apartment options just on the east side of Locust Grove, we do not need any more on this small lot. The area, and existing roads (Adkins) are not adequate to handle the increased amount of people, resource use and traffic/ congestion that it will create. If the Meridian City Council does actually care about the current residence, and not just money/greed from developers they will not vote for this change. We understand progress but we also understand what it's like to actually live here in this neighborhood. Please build something that will actually incorporate itself into the neighborhood and not encroach into all of the existing residence lives, especially privacy. The existing neighborhood also was built when there were different setback requirements for residential construction. All homes have at least an 8'-0" side yard and at least 20'-0" rear setbacks. Giving room and privacy for all residents living on their own property. The current setbacks are much tighter, showing only a 5'-0" side yard setback , only 12'-0" rear yard setback, and as close as 10'-0" to the sidewalk! That is way more intrusive than anything around this proposed development. Build something that "fits within the community" not something for greed and contempt of the neighbors. Today, as I write this: "This small lot that used to hold cows, goats and neighborhood favorite donkey." - Why would the city of Meridian want to take this away from younger generations? Please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. -- Rick Bradley 1321 E. Shellbrook Dr. 208-761-5470 1
