Subject:NO In-N-Out Burger in Meridian CostCo Development Area - Hard No!

Hello,
Please vote a hard NO to the appeal of In-N-Out Burger. Their appeal states nothing different than the
hearing we already had several months ago. They didn't even take the time to make or improve their
argument. IMO they are so brazen and lazy they think they can just re-hash a losing case and win
because they are "INO".
INO says they are 'for the community', but the first thing they did was go against our community norm's
and what has already been established. Their audacity of putting forth an appeal closure at midnight
instead of their 2am is just another slap in the face to all residents. We have agreements with Costco
and others, but if we make these concessions to INO why would Costco or any other business not want
to amend, change or look to delete altogether our arrangement? INO just wants to do what they want to
do as we all clearly can see. If they actually cared about OUR residential community they would have,
after the enormous turn out and push back in April made the clear and obvious decision to find another
location. This INO appeal illuminates my statement above.
There are at least 5-10 other compelling and valid bullet points as to why WE do not want another fast
food burger joint in our residential community area which we know you all have seen and reviewed. This
area/intersection as it is is already unsafe and overcrowded to the point that putting in a magnet like INO
will make life miserable for our residents and community.
I personally do not want to be smelling burgers all night long and the additional traffic will make even
going to Costco a more unnecessarily unsafe endeavor. This couldn't be a worse location for a burger
joint franchise like this. For them of course money is the bottom line, but I guarantee none of these INO
execs or the sales guy live right next to one of their burger joint spots!
The 4-1 denial of the planning and zoning committee is the correct decision. We appreciate you all being
able to see that this is a terrible idea for our community and residents.
We'll see you on Tuesday the 9th!
Regards,
David Siegel

David,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your thoughts about the proposed project. Your email has been
received by the Mayor’s Office. Because this project is part of an open application, the Mayor and City
Council members are prohibited from commenting outside of the public hearing process. That said, we
take public feedback seriously and want you to know that we have received your email and have read
your comments.
Your email has been forwarded to our City Clerk and will be included in the project public record. As you
may be aware, the City does not determine which food service or business locates at a property, the
City regulates the land use of various properties while businesses decide to locate at given sites or
areas based on market conditions. As you noted, this project’s City Council public hearing is currently
scheduled for Sept 9. Additionally, we invite you to check the City’s website, meridiancity.org for any
upcoming public hearing notices and additional information regarding the development. I have also
copied the Planning Department if you have additional questions on hearings, or should that date
change.
Sincerely,
Dave Miles | Chief of Staff
