Pat,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your thoughts about the proposed project. Your email has been received by
the Mayor’s Office. Because this project is part of an open application, the Mayor and City Council members are
prohibited from commenting outside of the public hearing process. That said, we take public feedback seriously
and want you to know that we have received your email and have read your comments.
Your email has been forwarded to our City Clerk and will be included in the project public record. As you may be
aware, the City does not determine which food service or business locates at a property, the City regulates the
land use of various properties while businesses decide to locate at given sites or areas based on market
conditions. This project’s City Council public hearing is currently scheduled for Sept 9. Additionally, we invite you
to check the City’s website, meridiancity.org for any upcoming public hearing notices and additional information
regarding the development. I have also copied the Planning Department if you have additional questions on
hearings, or should that date change.
Sincerely,
Dave Miles | Chief of Staff

I don't care what traffic study IN N OUT or IDT did, if they said that corner could stand additional traffic,
they were WRONG. Merely stand on the corner now, today, and watch the steady stream of cars turning
left from Ten Mile onto W Lost Rapids, some to turn right into Costco, some going straight to go to their
homes in Bainbridge or Cadence, and some using W. Lost Rapids as a through street to get to
Chinden. Then swivel your head the other way and watch the line of cars exiting onto W Lost Rapids from
the Costco parking lot. There are always at least a few waiting to get out, and many times a day, there is
1
a line that goes all the way back as far as you can see ( I have video of this). As I understand it, that road
that exits onto W Lost Rapids is owned by Costco. Adding approximately 1,000,000 additional vehicles a
year that will HAVE to travel that skinny road to get to IN N OUT is just dumb. And, I predict that it will
need to be widened with turn lanes added, and most likely a stop light will be required, that would be at
most 300 yards from the existing stoplight at Ten Mile and W Lost Rapids. And when all of that needs to
be done, the city will have NO control because it's NOT the city's road! NO NO NO. This is insanity.
So, I guess you know that In N Out is well known for getting rejected at zoning and planning commissions,
making a few minor inconsequential changes that do not address the main issue which in this case is the
traffic nightmare it would create, then presenting to City Council and getting them to pass it despite the
fact that it is the zoning and planning commission that holds the expertise and knowledge to evaluate
ALL of the data. Makes no sense to me, I hope that you, our Meridian City Council, is smarter than that.
Best Regards,
Pat Cat
