Subject:Touchmark at Meadowlake Village Land Development Proposals
External Sender - Please use caution with links or attachments.
Dear City Council Members,
As a 10-year resident of Touchmark at Meadowlake Village Senior Community I am writing to share
my concerns about Touchmark's current land development proposals. The Meridian City Planning
Commission has approved the Touchmark proposal plans much to my dismay.
My husband and I have enjoyed our 10 years here in a cottage, especially the tranquility and beauty
of the campus. However, the current land development proposals would extremely alter that beauty
and peacefulness of our campus. There exits now an atmosphere that gives us residents much peace
and harmony with the proximity to nature. For our health many of us walk around and through the golf
course and benefit from the serenity it affords; we know it contributes to a healthy lifestyle.
There have been many newspaper articles about research conducted regarding the exposure to nature
and open space which contributes to a happy and contented state of mind. Those benefits of peace,
tranquility, and quiet are afforded us Touchmark residents with spacious green grass, a beautiful pond with
a fountain, a pavilion adjacent to the pond, trees, and bushes attracting birds whose sounds are those of
contentment. Those give us a meditative state of mind. All of that would be lost with the removal of the golf
course and building villas on that property.
I urge you to reject the Touchmark application and send it back to the Meridian Planning Department
for re-evaluation.
Yours truly,
Carolyn L. Mitchell
