To The Meridan City Council Members --
We have been residents of TouchMark Meadow Lake Village for approximately 4 years. We rented a villa at
first until a cottage became available to us in 2022. At that time we bought into the community by purchasing
a life estate in our home.
We have been made aware over the past year by TouchMark management that there were plans to upgrade
the original development plans for our community – and that these proposals would need the approval of
Meridian City Council. We were given verbal and written assurances that these plans were in the very distant
future and not something that we should have immediate concerns about. We were, therefore, very surprised
when we listened to the presentation given on July 17 to the Meridian Planning Commission for the further
development of our community. Had we known about the content of the presentation, we would have been
present to make our voices heard. The plans presented suggested a much earlier time frame of
implementation as well as many concerns with respect to the loss of greenspace as well as safety.
With respect to greenspace & security - the entrance to TouchMark MLV is one of SERENITY not only to us
who reside here but to members of the community who visit. It is important to all of us that this area be
retained and maintained for the use of our MLV community residents. We are extremely concerned that this
project will offer a greater degree of pedestrian as well as vehicular traffic to our streets; resulting in a concern
for the safety of our residents and our properties.
Additionally, the lowering of the 55+ age restriction poses many challenges to our senior community. We do
not agree with the Planning Commission comments that having younger people in our community would be
welcome & beneficial. If that were accurate, we would have purchased a home in our daughter’s
neighborhood which has no age restrictions. We CHOSE to live in a 55+ community for the benefits and safety
it provides us.
We do not agree with the Planning Commission’s comments that our not being at their meeting implies
consent for the project by MLV residents . That is not the case as it is not the same proposal that was
conveyed to us. We do not consent to the proposal as presented and would like you all to know that.
These are just a couple examples of our concerns. Others include: inclusion of future residents of townhomes
sharing our common areas; size & number of townhome buildings; Planning Commission comments that our
fencing along the canal is not Meridian code compliant; etc.
Thank you for considering our concerns as you review the conditions being presented to you.
