Your email has been received by our office. As you may be aware, the City does not determine which food service or business locates at a property, the City regulates the land use of various properties while businesses decide to locate at given sites or areas based on market conditions. I love this community and the neighborhood, but we have concerns. We have lived here for 3 years and in those 3 years we have experienced nothing but issues when we are returning home on Lost Rapids and Ten Mile. The traffic that goes into Costco alone is a nightmare. We moved in after the Costco and dealt with it but the traffic every day of the week (aside from holidays) is awful. We have had numerous occasions where the Costco lot patrons are trying to leave by turning left onto Lost Rapids ignoring the fact that the people on Lost Rapids have the right of way. They fail to pay attention to cars going straight into the neighborhood because a lot of people are turning into Costco the same way. It's an ongoing issue to have to yield to cars who do not have the right of way already. Adding more cars and more people to that equation with In N Out is just going to make matters worse. The neighborhood is very active with kids, adults, dogs all walking on Lost Rapids and adding more cars to the street, again, will disrupt our way of life. We already have a new development, Adero Park that will be changing the landscape. While that is accepted, we are aware that will also put more traffic in the neighborhood. When Blackcat is closed or having construction we feel the pain with people cutting through our neighborhood to get to and from Chinden. Again, this is something we will have to deal with but adding this on top of fast food traffic will be overwhelming to say the least. Not to mention, our neighborhood for some reason only has a few stop signs. People who do not live in the neighborhood that are cutting through take advantage of this and fly down the streets. I live in Meridian and I see a lot of growth and I am very aware that growth comes with progress. I also see plenty of vacant lots on Chinden that could handle the traffic that comes with a very popular fast food establishment. I believe the chain would be welcomed in Meridian, in another location. However, we DO NOT want to see it near Lost Rapids and Ten Mile. The road is already at capacity and adding more vehicles will only make congestion and safety concerns worse. The current infrastructure simply cannot handle it and any changes to this would disrupt our quality of life in Bainbridge.
