On behalf of Brighton, I would like to express our support for the code changes proposed under ZOA-2025-0001.
We have been closely engaged with City staff regarding these changes. Navigating the existing code has presented
real challenges for us — particularly in our efforts to create innovative, functional, and beautiful communities that
meet current code. Staff has worked hard and worked alongside us and other stakeholders to create thoughtful
amendments that reflect the realities of development while still protecting the goals of the City.
We believe the proposed updates strike an essential and well-calibrated balance: they uphold the City’s strong
design expectations and introduce the flexibility needed to foster innovative design.
We respectfully request the Council to adopt the proposed changes without further modification. We are
confident that the current draft represents a comprehensive and responsible update to the development code —
one that will serve both the community and the City well in the years ahead.
