Subject:Opposition to proposed Meridian In-N-Out
External Sender - Please use caution with links or attachments.
Dear Brian & entire Meridian City Council,
I am writing to respectfully express my strong opposition to the proposed development of an In-N-Out
Burger near my home in Meridian.
While I recognize that Meridian is experiencing rapid growth and welcomes new business, I believe that
placing a high-traffic fast-food restaurant in this specific location would negatively affect the character,
safety, and livability of our neighborhood. My primary concerns include:
1. Increased Traffic Congestion
In-N-Out locations are known to attract significant drive-through and dine-in traffic. This would likely
overwhelm surrounding streets and intersections, creating serious safety risks for residents, particularly
children and pedestrians.
2. Noise and Light Pollution
Late-night drive-through service and extended vehicle idling would bring elevated noise levels and bright
artificial lighting into the evening and overnight hours, eroding the peaceful, residential atmosphere.
3. Impact on Property Values
The presence of a busy fast-food operation in close proximity to homes may reduce nearby property
values, especially for those closest to the proposed site.
4. Environmental and Litter Concerns
Heavy take-out traffic often leads to increased roadside litter, odors, and strain on local waste
management. This is incompatible with the clean, family-oriented environment our community values.
5. Alignment with City Planning Goals
I respectfully ask the Commission to consider whether this proposal is consistent with Meridian’s long-
term comprehensive plan and its commitment to sustainable, balanced neighborhood growth.
I am not opposed to responsible commercial development. However, I believe that this particular project,
at this particular location, would not serve the best interests of nearby residents or the wider community.
I urge the Commission to deny the application or require significant modifications to address these
concerns.
Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
Hailey Dawson
