Dear City of Meridian Planning Department, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed development of an In-N-Out Burger at the intersection of Ten Mile and Lost Rapids Road. As a long-time resident of this area, I have witnessed firsthand the rapid growth Meridian has experienced over the years. While growth is often necessary, it must be done responsibly and with careful consideration for the lasting impacts on our community. Unfortunately, this project does not reflect those values. The proposed location is not suited for this type of high-traffic, high-impact establishment. We only need to look at the recent addition of In-N-Out at The Village to see the problems that arise— significant traffic congestion, increased noise, and a burden on local resources. When that location opened, Meridian Police, ACHD, and other agencies had to dedicate significant time and energy to manage the influx of vehicles and ensure public safety. These agencies are already stretched thin, and it is unfair to place additional strain on them simply to accommodate a major fast food corporation. Ten Mile Road is already difficult to navigate due to existing congestion. Adding another high-volume drive-thru will only make matters worse. This location is surrounded by residential neighborhoods, and introducing a business of this nature would severely disrupt the quiet, peaceful environment that residents have come to value. It would negatively affect property values and diminish the quality of life for those of us who live here. This type of project belongs in a commercial zone designed to support heavy traffic—not in an already overburdened corridor that lacks the infrastructure to safely accommodate it. There is insufficient space to implement effective traffic management plans that would prevent overflow onto Ten Mile Road, and that presents a serious hazard to both motorists and pedestrians. 1 I respectfully urge the City of Meridian to enforce the denial of this project. Our neighborhoods deserve thoughtful planning that protects residents, preserves our safety, and enhances our quality of life. Thank you for your time and consideration.
