Your email has been received by the Mayor’s O?ice. Because this project is part of an open application, the Mayor and City Council members are prohibited from commenting outside of the public hearing process. That said, we take public feedback seriously and want you to know that we have received your email and have read your comments. Your email has been forwarded to our City Clerk and will be included in the project public record. As you may be aware, the City does not determine which food service or business locates at a property, the City regulates the land use of various properties while businesses decide to locate at given sites or areas based on market conditions. This project’s City Council public hearing is currently scheduled for Aug. 12. Additionally, we invite you to check the City’s website, meridiancity.org for any upcoming public hearing notices and additional information regarding the development. I have also copied the Planning Department if you have additional questions on hearings, or should that date change. Sincerely, Dave Miles | Chief of Staff City of Meridian | Mayor’s Office 33 E. Dear Mayor Simison, I am a homeowner in Meridian. My home is in Cadence-Bainbridge. I am writing today because I agreed with the Meridian Zoning and Planning Commission decision to deny In-N-Out Burger corporation’s application to open an establishment on the corner of Ten Mile and Lost Rapids. I would like the Meridian City Council to uphold the Zoning and Planning Commission decision and deny In-N-Out Burger’s appeal. 1 Traffic to and from Costco currently creates congestion and backups to the parking lot adjacent to the proposed location. Costco and the current businesses can barely handle the existing traffic flow. In-N-Out restaurant would only add to the traffic flow problems and has the potential to impact the safety of drivers and walkers accessing the parking lot and in the neighboring area. This neighboring area includes two parks and three bus school stops and a large church. The 2017 ACHD study did not account for this level of “drive-thru” density and possibility of In-N-Out business model. There were no expansion plans in 2017 or future residential areas under consideration at the time of the study in 2017. Prior to the Meridian Zoning and Planning meeting to consider this application 80% of residents opposed having In-N-Out located at the corner of Ten Mile and Lost Rapids. 96% of the letters and comments presented to the Zoning and Planning Commission from the six surrounding neighborhoods were opposed to this project. Please carefully consider the impact on traffic flow and possible safety issues if this project is granted. I urge you to uphold the Meridian Zoning and Planning Commission initial denial and vote No on this appeal.
