Comment on the Levy Planned to Fund Public Safety
Firstly, I'm in favor of the levy as stated. I understand the need, as federal money that was funding those
posi?ons will no longer be available.
However, as I talk to other Meridian residents, I've found that most whom I've spoken to are not in favor of it.
They seem to feel that the cost of everything is going up, while their income has not.
For me, the levy would mean a cost of $140. I think the gains to the city are worth that cost to me.
But I also wonder why it is necessary when I see all the new buildings going in throughout the city?
Doesn't the new revenue influx from the addi?onal property taxes cover the costs that the levy (property tax
increase) will cover? Or is the increase necessary because of all the extra building? Therefore, if it is necessary
due to all the new developments, shouldn't the city limit new developments? Just wondering.
Respec?ully
