Hi Steven,
did speak with Sonya about this. She requested that we design the driveway at 20'width and just
go around the power poles in question. She did not have an issue with us pulling the fence between
the driveways back—5'to remove the pinch point as we had discussed.
Please let me know if that will be an acceptable solution for you.
Thankyou,

Hi Gregg,
Thanks for reaching out yesterday regarding this. Were you able to talk with Sonya Allen any further
about this project? Being that this serves as a Primary Fire Department Access route, the minimum
20'width shall be provided.
Let me know if you need anything further from me on this.
Respectfully,

Hi Steven,
tried to call but not getting through.
This project is on the west side of NW 4t"St, opposite W Camellia
Ave.This is a common driveway which will serve the 4 residences (1
existing, 3 proposed) on the north side. There is also an existing
driveway to the south serving 2 of the 3 existing houses on the south
side, with one taking access from NW 4th. Currently, the neighbors
are not interested in giving an access agreement and allowing us to
expand the existing driveway to one(legal size)driveway. Due to no
access agreement, the city will require some form of separation
(open vision fence)to keep new people from using the existing
driveway, and vice versa. Maybe we need you to come to our
neighborhood meeting to convince them that their 11'wide driveway
will not be accessible for emergency vehicles. :-
Scott had previously approved the driveway access,
apparatus turnaround, and fire hydrant locations with the combined
driveway design. What we need now is approval for the split
driveway configuration, and for the proposed driveway to be under
20'wide(-19')for the section between the power poles. I highlighted
the changes below for clarity.
If you would like to discuss, please give me a call at 208.376.5153
ext 115.
Thankyou,

Gregg,
am a little confused on this. Are you asking about a Private
Driveway to a Residence or are you referring to a Fire Department
Access road?
Feel free to give me a call at my desk.

Hi Scott,
Sorry if I missed your reply on this, but I don't show where I got an
answer to my questions in the previous email. Please take a look and
reply with your thoughts on approval, or what would be necessary to
gain approval,for this common driveway.
I'm adding our current drawing for clarity. Main changes/concerns
that we wanted your review on:
1. Proposed common driveway will be separate from the 11'
existing driveway to the south
2. Distance from property line to existing power poles is—19',
so driveway is drawn as 19'wide from NW 4t"to the 2nd power
pole,then 20'wide thereafter
3. Open sight fence (callout 1) is shown along the south edge of
the proposed driveway from east property line to west end of
the driveway

Hi Scott,
Since we last spoke about this project,we have had a neighborhood
meeting to discuss the project with the neighbors. Those in existing
Lots 1 &2 below(south of the project) are not interested in a shared
driveway and are currently unwilling to enter a shared access
easement agreement with our client. Due to this,we are having to
update our design to have separate driveways—the existing will
serve existing lots 1 &2, and the new driveway will serve the 3 new
lots and existing lot 3.The city will require some form of separation
between the driveways , likely a open-sight steel tube fence. The two
red dots are power poles, and the one to the east is —19'from the
property line as shown, thus the 20'wide access becomes an issue
unless the power is moved underground.Would it be possible to get
approval from the Fire Department for a driveway less than 20'wide?

Scott,
We discussed this on the phone, but since we don't know
when there will be a new fire marshal in place, can I get a
written approval from you forth e layout of Cherry Blossom
East (snip below, layout file attached)?
1. Green dot is proposed hydrant, red dot is existing
hydrant
2. Green lots are proposed, red lots are existing
3. Existing lots 1 &2 currently take access from an 11'
wide concrete driveway
This concept shows a shared common driveway serving 6 lots
—the three new and three existing. This will require us to get
an access easement agreement from the neighbors to the
south (lots 1 &2).
