Additionally, as the Mayor has stated the fire fighters funded by the SAFER Grant are an enhanced service and the City would pursue the needed on- going revenue necessary, which is why he has asked the Council to place a levy question on the ballot for Meridian residents to consider this funding. When this grant was applied for and received, what was the long term plan for replacing the grant revenue that was set to go away? Did the city thinking about future funding get caught up in HB389’s new limitations on increasing property tax base?
