Kyle,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your questions
As the Mayor has stated in his State of the City, in part, House Bill 389 continues to impact the
City as well as future revenues. Additionally, as the Mayor has stated the fire fighters funded
by the SAFER Grant are an enhanced service and the City would pursue the needed on-
going revenue necessary, which is why he has asked the Council to place a levy question on
the ballot for Meridian residents to consider this funding.
Sincerely,
Dave Miles | Chief of Staff

When this grant was applied for and received, what was the long term plan for replacing the
grant revenue that was set to go away? Did the city thinking about future funding get
caught up in HB389’s new limitations on increasing property tax base?
Was there a plan to have the growth pay for growth with the increasing size of the city’s
population?
