As the Mayor spoke at the State of the City, Meridian has made strides to better compensate police officers, however those efforts still lag behind competitors, particularly the City of Boise. The roughly 9 percent gap in take home wages and benefits with Boise is what the levy proposal reflects to provide a more competitive wage for sworn officers.
