Planning and Zoning Department, Meridian City Hall, I am writing to express my deep concern and strong opposition to the proposed Daysprings Development (H-2024-0070) in our community. I join the opposition voiced by other residents. No re-zoning should be allowed which will increase the amount of houses built (e.g. R4 to a R8). As a resident of the affected area, I find the potential impacts of this project on our neighborhood to be unacceptable, and I urge the Planning and Zoning Department to reconsider its approval and address the significant issues this development will create. The area streets are not equipped to handle such a dramatic influx of vehicles, which will inevitably lead to gridlock, longer commute times, and heightened safety risks for pedestrians, cyclists, and families. Additionally, the scale of this “huge development” is deeply troubling. By continually approving large developments such as the Daysprings Development, the city will not preserve the character and quality of life in our neighborhood. This development is in conflict with the City of Meridian’s plan to responsibly promote growth as laid out in the City of Meridian’s adopted 2021-2025 strategic plan . Increased density will likely lead to overcrowding, strain on local resources such as schools and utilities, and a decline in the peaceful environment that makes this area a desirable place to live. I urge the Planning and Zoning Department (City Council) to halt the Daysprings Development. Shawn Freeman Meridian Idaho 1
