Dear Meridian Planning and Zoning and City Council members,
My name is Kathy Dalton, and I am writing to express my profound concerns regarding the proposed In-
N-Out Burger location on Lost Rapids/Tree Farm Road. This location presents significant health and
safety risks to my family and our neighbors, particularly impacting vulnerable senior citizens and young
children.
My husband and I, both in our seventies, reside on Lost Rapids/Tree Farm Road, along with our son,
daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren under the age of ten. Our quiet residential neighborhood is
currently conducive to the children’s active lifestyles – biking, scootering, and playing at nearby Keith
Bird Park. The construction and operation of an In-N-Out Burger restaurant would drastically alter this
environment, introducing significant increases in traffic congestion, noise pollution, and pedestrian
traffic. These changes pose a direct threat to the safety and well-being of our grandchildren, and
negatively impact our own quality of life. The increased traffic volume alone creates a serious safety
concern, particularly for young children navigating the area on bikes and scooters.
While we appreciate the popularity of In-N-Out Burger, having grown up with the restaurant in California,
we firmly believe this specific location is unsuitable for our residential community. The potential negative
consequences significantly outweigh any perceived economic benefits for our neighborhood. We
strongly urge you to carefully consider the impact on our families and community before approving this
proposal. We respectfully request a "NO" vote on this In-N-Out Burger location. We would welcome the
opportunity to discuss our concerns further.
