Dear City of Meridian,
My HOA has asked residents who oppose the In-N-Out location to reach out to the city and attend the in-
person hearing tonight, but I just wanted to resurface this that I’m actually in support of the project.
The reason for this is because I’ve been overwhelmingly disappointed for the lack of quality and variety
that keeps getting approved in our area. We already have so many Burger Kings, fried chicken tender
joints, and bank branches that are becoming increasingly obsolete in a digital world. North Meridian is a
desirable place to live and to keep it that way there needs to be more diligence and scrutiny in the retail
and restaurants that are being built. There has already been a number of restaurants that close down
because nobody wants to eat the terrible food there, and then you have an empty space on your hands.
The main concern I’ve heard about In-N-Out which I believe carries some validity is the late night traffic
till 2am. I live right off Ten Mile and I do think this could be a problem. It was raised by our HOA that a
better location would be on Linder or near the Walmart at Ten Mile and McMillan, which I would
support. But if that is the deal breaker for In-N-Out then I’d rather have a great place to eat than the
terrible choices that exist right now.
Thanks,
John Scott

Dear Meridian City Council,
I am a resident of the Bainbridge neighborhood, located just outside the 500-foot radius from the
proposed In-N-Out location. While I am unsure of the accuracy of the claim, I recently read that 80% of
Bainbridge residents are opposed to this project, which I find surprising and, frankly, hard to believe.
In-N-Out Burger is widely recognized for offering some of the highest-quality fast food in the industry. The
consistent lines at their drive-thru and the full dining areas are a testament to the brand’s popularity and
1
the quality of its offerings. It's clear that people are drawn to their food because it stands out in terms of
both taste and value.
What has been particularly frustrating for me and many others in the northwest Meridian area is the lack
of high-quality retail and food options. So far, we have seen:
A Burger King, which serves awful food and is frequently empty,
A battery store, also frequently empty,
Another one of several mattress stores,
Several fried chicken-strip chains (at least three within a one-mile radius),
An abundance of similar fast-casual Mexican restaurants (There’s Cafe Rio, Costa Vida, and
Chipotle all within a mile of each other),
A sugary soda kiosk,
And multiple bank branches, which I believe are more about tax benefits for the banks rather than
serving the community - these have diminishing purpose in our increasingly digital economy so I
would expect there to to be vacancies in the near future
The city has a responsibility to preserve and enhance the value of its communities. Part of that
responsibility involves thoughtfully regulating the types of businesses allowed to set up shop. The
introduction of In-N-Out would be an improvement, not just in terms of dining options, but in enhancing
the overall quality of the area.
Regarding concerns about traffic, it’s important to remember that there is already significant traffic in the
area, especially with the presence of Costco. If traffic is already a concern, I don’t see why an additional
quality business should be singled out. Moreover, with the upcoming expansion of the highway to Star,
traffic congestion should ease in the near future.
In conclusion, I urge the City Council to consider the broader benefits of this project and the opportunity
it represents for improving the area. In-N-Out would contribute positively to our community, both in
terms of economic growth and the diversity of businesses available to residents.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
John Scott
Bainbridge Neighborhood Resident
