Broadway Ave. Meridian, ill 83642 Re: Public Hearing of January 14,2003 Application of Friends of Children and Families, Inc. for a Rezone from I-L to 0- T RECEIVED JAN - 3 2003 g~ty Of Meridian ]ty Clerk Office Dear City Council of Meridian: Every property owner in this zoned area bought his or her property, voluntarily, with full knowledge that these properties are zoned I-L [Industrial]. No activity, planned or considered, in this neighborhood should EVER be permitted to abridge, limit, or restrict in any way our right to develop our properties according to the existing I-L zoning of the property we purchased. I fully intend the future I-L business development of my own property here and expect other nearby property owners to exercise the same right. As this is an industrial-zoned area devoted to business, commercial uses, to include retail convenience stores and packaged alcohol sales in this immediate vicinity (since we are only about 3 blocks from the commercial center of the city) should also be expected and welcomed here. These development and usage rights must not be hindered or limited in any way by a potential "school zone" or "transitional" zoning permits that are not of an industrial/commercial business nature. No use of property in this neighborhood should be permitted to restrict or hinder the future I-L character and industrial/commercial business use of arty other property in this area. My full faith is that both the City Council of Meridian and the Planning and Zoning Commission of Meridian will uphold and protect the existing I-L property rights of every property owner here in this I-L zone in every way as this area is developed as an industrial and business zone in the heart of the city. Sincerely, ~~. James Cain email: jcairt21@hotrnail.com
