Meridian City Hall- This email addresses the potential site for an In-n -Out restaurant located at the NW corner of N. Ten Mile Road and W. Lost Rapids Drive. We live in the BainBridge community near the proposed building site. As proposed, we are not supportive of the restaurant location as the intersection (as well as the turn-in to Costco just to the north off Ten Mile) is already too crowded with an excessive level of vehicles. Traffic flow drawn to a popular California restaurant (on top of Costco traffic) will be even heavier at the intersection negatively impacting the BainBridge community, the Olivia Apartment complex on Lost Rapids and the 55+ Cadence community. Vehicles headed north on Ten Mile already take a left-turn shortcut through W. Lost Rapids to Chinden to avoid left-turn traffic at the intersection of Chinden and Ten Mile--ACHD is aware of this shortcut as I have spoken to the County department before. This major Chinden/Ten Mile intersection will become even busier after the opening of the Fast Eddy's convenience store/gas station further triggering more shortcuts through our neighborhood. The addition of the In-n-Out restaurant and public aversion to the Chinden/Ten Mile intersection will make short-cut travel on Lost Rapids even heavier which poses material safety issues at Merdian's Keith Bird Legacy Park frequented by neighborhood children as well as a school bus stop. We are not supportive of the location of the In-n-Out restaurant. Perhaps a location closer to I-84 and Ten Mile would be better suited in an expanding commercial property area better suited for heavier traffic.
