I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed construction of an In-N-Out Burger in our
neighborhood. While I recognize the potential for economic development, I believe this particular project
poses more challenges than benefits for our community.
First and foremost, the addition of a high-traffic fast-food chain like In-N-Out will significantly impact
local traffic patterns. Our streets are not designed to accommodate the volume of vehicles typically
drawn to drive-thru restaurants of this scale, particularly during peak hours. This raises concerns about
congestion, safety, and increased commute times for residents. We already have constant traffic with
Costco in the area. Customers of Costco and similar businesses do not yield to people coming in and out
of the neighborhood. They assume we are all entering the shopping area. This has created scenarios
where accidents have almost occured. On Sunday's, we have additional traffic due to the church
services. We do not need a third reason for additional traffic on Sunday's.
Secondly, the nature of the business may not align with the character or long-term vision of our
neighborhood. Our community values a balance between residential tranquility and thoughtfully
selected commercial additions. Introducing a high-volume, late-hours establishment could disrupt that
balance—both in terms of noise and overall livability.
While I am not opposed to growth or development, I strongly believe it must be pursued with a focus on
sustainability, neighborhood integrity, and thoughtful urban planning. I urge you to reconsider or explore
alternative developments that would be more harmonious with the needs and priorities of our
residents.There is plenty of available land in Meridian where this business can thrive.
