Subject:Concerns about proposed In N Out in Meridian at 10 Mile & Lost Rapids
External Sender - Please use caution with links or attachments.
Dear Meridian Planning and Zoning Committee,
I am writing to express strong opposition to the proposed placement of an In-N-Out Burger in Meridian at
10 Mile & Lost Rapids, which is within 200 yards of multiple residential neighborhoods, a Costco, and an
already dense concentration of restaurants and businesses.
This area is already burdened by severe traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours and weekends.
Introducing a high-volume, drive-thru-oriented fast food chain like In-N-Out—which is widely known for
generating long lines of idling vehicles—will only exacerbate the existing traffic issues, strain
infrastructure, and create safety hazards for residents, pedestrians, and other drivers.
The proximity of this proposed development to quiet residential areas including a retirement community
is deeply concerning. Increased traffic, noise pollution, and potential late-night disturbances threaten
the character and safety of our neighborhoods. Families live here. Children play here. We should not
have to contend with the impact of commercial developments that prioritize profit over the quality of life
for residents.
Furthermore, there is no shortage of dining establishments in this immediate vicinity. The addition of
another high-traffic business is not only unnecessary, but irresponsible given the current infrastructure
challenges.
We urge the Planning and Zoning Committee to seriously reconsider this proposal and prioritize the
needs and well-being of the residents who live, work, and raise families in this community. We deserve
thoughtful, community-oriented planning—not reactive, high-impact commercial sprawl.
Sincerely,
Debra Oliver
