At previous neighborhood and zoning meetings I attended it was stated there would only be 9 lots facing Westwing Estates zone R-4 in the Spurwing Patio Home Development. During these neighborhood meetings the developer stated that all homes would be Single Level Residential Building Lots. However, due to recent rescheduling of Spurwing Patio Homes zoning meetings I have not been able to attend the last couple of zoning meetings. It has been brought to my attention that the above statements are no longer valid. After contacting Meridian Planning and Zoning I was informed that there would not be 9 Single Level Residential Building Lots but 14 Attached High-Density Residential Town Homes facing Westwing Estates zoned R-8. The developer has relocated the high density housing originally located behind Spurwing and located it along Westwing Estates. This high-density residential detached housing (town homes) will lower our property value dramatically. As others and I stated in the first neighborhood meeting with the developer that I am not opposed to the development. Just located the high-density housing and town homes along Chinden and protect our property values and Spurwing subdivision. The developer (Who lives in Spurwing) has accommodated the Spurwing subdivision but ignored Westwing Estates with his current changes. Please locate the high-density residential town homes facing Westwing Estates along Chinden Blvd. and replace them with the original 9 Single Level Residential Building Lots zoned R-4 to protect our Property Values. Originally, there were 9 single-family detached lots proposed along the west boundary of the subdivision adjacent to Westwing Estates as you stated. However, now the applicant is proposing 14 lots, 12 of which are for attached units, along the west boundary. These lots will contain a total of 8 structures, 6 of which will contain two dwelling units each. The number of building lots and households has increased but the number of actual structures is comparatively the same as originally proposed. Also, the attached lots along the west boundary are proposed to be zoned R.8 now instead of R-4 as originally proposed. This item is going before the City Council on February 6th for reconsideration.
