HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter from The Sherwin Family RECEIVED NOV 2 ? 2006 To Whom It May Concern, City of Meridian City Clerk Office This letter is in reference to the application by Pamela Minshew for a conditional use . \1 permit. The application number is CUP 06-037. \ )' I am writing to ask that the Commission deny Pamela Minshew's application for a conditional use permit. I was informed by a neighbor that Ms. Minshew was made aware of our subdivision covenants not allowing private business by her realtor prior to the purchase of the property. Also prior to the purchase of the home another neighbor told us Ms. Minshew asked the neighbors on the street around the property to sign a petition she had written to approve her use of the property at 672 E. Baldwin Street as a daycare. I live on that street also just three houses down and she never came to my home and asked me or my husband if we approved. I know also that over half the people she polled-were-against-the-use ofthe property as_-a-daycare. - Therefore, she had proper- ." warning as to the feelings of our block. She met with the Home Owners Association Board and was made aware of the subdivisions feelings and still she continued with the purchase. Also originally she was telling people on our block that the daycare would consist of only up to eight kids. Now in her proposal before the Commission it has almost doubled. The other problem that has been raised as well is our property values going down our area. Most people do not want to buy a home near a high traffic area. With the increased traffic of her clients going down our streets it does not show our neighborhood as one that is conducive to a family environment but rather private business. I do not believe that Ms. Minshew plans to reimburse us for our monetary loss from selling our homes. It is obvious that she does not care about the feelings of the home owners in this area or she would have listened to what was being said prior to her purchasing of the home. She has no vested interest in our subdivison due to the fact that she does not consider this home her permanent residence. On a different note why did Ms. Minshew not consider purchasing a home in a subdivision connected to ours that has no covenants to prohibit her starting of a daycare? It would seem that this was very poor planning on Ms. Minshew's behalf in undertaking this business venture. I am sorry for the money that she has invested but if she had taken the proper amount oftime to fully investigate all her options, I do believe she would have found a better solution than the . -property she purchased. --I hope -thisraises-some- questions for the, committee and also -- - gives a small insight as to the consensus of Bedford Place. Please help keep our subdivision for families and not for private business. Please deny Pamela Minshew's request for a conditional use pennit. Thank you for your time. Sinc:rely, /i . L /l .....
