Project Reference; Blayden Subdivision H-2033-0043 Hello, My name is Pat Catanzaro, I live at 5884 No Carlese Ave, Meridian, in the Bainbridge Subdivision. I am the owner of one of the 572 homes in our community. I have owned my home there since 2017, and have become very involved with the Meridian Community, currently serving as the Treasurer for the Meridian Chamber of Commerce. I write to express the concerns of my and my neighbors, with this development, par?cularly the very large increase in traffic on Black Cat Road southbound from Chinden Boulevard. ACHD has projected es?mates of an addi?onal 7,809 auto trips per day: 490 p/hour in the AM peak hour and 641 p/hour PM peak hours. That’s poten?ally 8-10 cars PER MINUTE lining up at the stop signs at McMillan and the traffic lights at Chinden. This is in addi?on to the already extremely heavy traffic we’re faced with every day at the Black Cat/McMillan and Black Cat/Chinden intersec?ons. Addi?onally, these auto trips will inevitably spill over onto W Vanderbilt Drive which bisects the Bainbridge Community and could pose risks for students at Pleasant View Elementary. Per my understanding, the Blayden Development is currently only supplying a sidewalk southbound on the west side of Black Cat that will end at Larry Lane; that leaves 500 feet south to the next exis?ng sidewalk. This will place pedestrians, mostly children walking to Pleasant View Elementary, using the roadside shoulder for that distance. Frankly this is unacceptable. ACHD has future plans for widening Black Cat to five lanes in 2036-2040. That’s 8+ years AFTER this development is scheduled to complete. There is a tenta?ve plan for a roundabout at McMillan in 2028 which may help somewhat but who knows what else will be built in our area by then. I’m well aware Meridian City doesn’t build roads, but we must have this discussion and come up with some workable solu?ons with other agencies. PLEASE keep these points in mind when vo?ng on this proposal. Thank you, Pat Cat Pat Catanzaro (408) 710-4700 1
