Hello, My name is Melissa Hamilton. I live near ten mile and cherry lane. I drive these roads multiple times a day. I'm writing to you to say NO to The Gateway. All the new housing in the Meridian area, especially on ten mile, has led to hazardous traffic. The Gateway may not seem like a big deal. But there is a tremendous amount of already approved high density housing along Ten Mile that hasn't been built yet. So the conditions will get worse. Adding another 400 units just compounds the issue further. The Idaho Transportation Department stated that they “have concerns for the development’s added trips to the Ten Mile interchange. New development growth, both on and off the State highway system, contributes to increased congestion.” It continues and says, “The Gateway at the 10 Mile’s TIS determined that the development’s added traffic to the southbound left turn movement at the Ten Mile interchange results in vehicles stacking not only in the turn lane but also spilling back into the southbound thru lanes. This will result in rear-end crashes and increased overall congestion at the interchange.” That is in the email to Mr Gasser from the ITD. We know traffic is already an issue in this area. No, the addition to Hwy 16 is not going to have a miraculous effect on the traffic. Adding more housing means more residents which means more cars on the road is not helping our community. No to The Gateway! Thank you, Melissa Hamilton 1
