Mr. Whitlock -
I live at 5252 N. Elisha Avenue, Meridian ID 83646 and this email is in opposition to the proposed development, Baratza
Subdivision H-2024-0016 located at N. Black Cat Road and W. McMillian Road. I feel that this development proposal is in
direct conflict with the goals of the City of Meridian, as outlined in the Comprehensive City Plan of 2019. I urge the
Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council to deny this proposed development and any request for higher
density rezoning for this development. Please take into consideration that the current existing developments in this
area of Meridian are family neighborhoods and that higher density residential neighborhoods have historically been a
nexus to higher crime rates and will have a disproportionate draw on city and County resources versus what they invest
back into city/County budgets. I was a police officer and worked in a dense urban area for 14 years prior to being
injured on duty and medically retired. I know the negative outcomes and the pitfalls of dense urban expansion and I ask
you to please keep the safety of our children and families in mind and understand that the will of the people who live
here is against this type of concentrated urban development.
