Mr. Whitlock – I am writing in opposition to the proposed development, Baratza Subdivision H-2024-0016 located at N. Black Cat Road and W. McMillian Road. The timing for this development proposal is very poor, due to the lack of proper road infrastructure for such a large home development. The traffic at the intersection of Black Cat and McMillian is a huge backlog of cars most days and times. Adding nearly 350 additional homes to the more than 1000 homes approved for the one mile radius over the last 5 years is a very unwise decision; until the roads have been widened and the intersection gets a roundabout or signal. Also, the 3 schools (Elementary, Middle and High Schools) that would receive students from this development are all currently overcrowded and shouldn't have to bear the burden or a poor planning decision if the City truly values a good education. I urge the Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council to deny this proposed development and any request for additional rezoning for this property until the road infrastructure and school situations have been remedied.
