Dear Planning and Zoning Board, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed Outter Banks development of over 500 units. As a concerned citizen and resident of the area, I believe that this development will have a significant negative impact on our community. In addition to the overwhelming strain on our existing infrastructure, particularly on Ten Mile Road, this development will also place a heavy burden on our local parks and schools. These facilities are already at capacity, and the influx of residents from a 500+ unit development will further exacerbate overcrowding and limit access for current residents. The proposed development does not align with the needs of our community. There is already a surplus of apartment units in the area, many of which are sitting vacant. Adding more units to this mix will only exacerbate the problem and create a transient population that does not contribute to the long-term stability of our community. Instead of focusing on expanding housing, I urge the Planning and Zoning Board to prioritize the needs of existing residents. We need to invest in infrastructure improvements, such as widening roads, and enhancing parks and schools. These measures will help to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the overall livability of our community. We could really use an amazing - huge- recreation center with indoor pools, sports courts, dance type classrooms, weight rooms, exercise equipment, etc. We don't need more housing. Furthermore, I believe that a more reasonable and sustainable approach would be to reduce the number of units proposed for the Outter Banks development. Halving the number of units would significantly mitigate the negative impacts on traffic, infrastructure, parks, and schools, while still providing a much-needed boost to our local economy. By carefully considering the potential consequences of this development, I am confident that the Planning and Zoning Board can make a decision that will benefit our community for years to come. Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter. Sincerely Kathy Gallentine 1
