Dear Meridian City Council, I strongly oppose the Modified Development Agreement proposed by Timbercreek Recycling. I live within 500 — 1,000 feet of Timbercreek Recycling on Spire Street and I am extremely concerned about the proposed changes that would allow Timbercreek to continue operations: • Increase in dust causing air quality concerns (especially for those who are immunocompromised such as myself). I am especially concerned about the hazardous silica dust from concrete. You can see the clouds of dust in the air from my backyard. My patio furniture is coated in it. • Increase in odors. Already I deal with the rotting smell of this recycling plant daily. Adding additional materials would attract more pests and could release additional toxins such as mold into the air. I already deal with an incredible number of flies near my property. I cannot enjoy my backyard and patio in peace. • Toxins leaching into nearby water canals getting into the water supply. • Increase in traffic with large trucks with limited road space (2-lane 2-way street). • Increase in noise from large construction trucks and equipment grinding. These are very real concerns for me and other Pinnacle residents. I did not expect my million-dollar home to be next to an expanding heavy industrial facility. There was no mention of being within 1,000 feet of a recycling plant that emits dust and odors when I was in escrow just a few months ago. This would have drastically influenced my decision to buy in this location. I urge city council to deny the modification request to expand the Development Agreement. I would also request city council require routine inspections on this facility. Furthermore, I appreciate the time and comprehensive details Sonya Allen, Meridian City Associate Planner, took in creating the community report (Agenda Packet pages 78-89).
