Subject: proposed development and Kodiak Collector Street
To all members of the Council and the mayor,
I am a resident of Bear Creek Subdivision, my address being on Cub St directly next
to the proposed Shepherds Creek Development. I, as well as my neighbors am very concerned
about the excessive density of Shepherds Creek. I am expecting my first child, and have
picked this neighborhood because of it's safe nature and open spaces. With the proposed
Shepherds Creek lack of open space and increased traffic, I am afraid that the dream that
we bought and were sold will disappear.
This neighborhood is full of small children who will no longer be safe riding their bikeD
and playing outside, having to dodge the multitude of cars, especially now that you plan
on building a main pathway through this neighborhood from Meridian Road to Stoddard Road.
You as our representatives have the responsibility to represent the taxpayers and
residents of Meridian, NOT THE DEVELOPERS. Residents of Meridian are getting sick of this
disorganized random development.
Roads and traffic plans should be the first thing to consider before allowing these
developers to cram as many houses as possible onto every acre of space. I cannot even
fathom how they will squeeze 8 homes per acre in that development, considering that Bear
Creek and Belissima Stradda average 2.5 homes per acre. I will ask you this, would YOU
want this to happen in YOUR neighborhood? Don't you think that this is all getting a bit
ridiculous with this uncontrolled growth? Do you want our pretty little town to become a
mass suburbia with no thought-out infrastructure? Is it really worth it to sacrifice
quality of life for all of this. We moved here for the small, safe town feel, and will
leave taking our revenue with us if that quality of life decreases. We will not be the
only ones. The housing market is saturated here right now. Is it really necessary to
grant even more permits, considering you issued 12,000 of them for this year alone.
I beg of you, please listen to what your hardworking residents are telling you, and
reconsider not allowing this to happen. I appreciate your taking the time to listen to
our concerns.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth S. Casey
