Dear City Council Members, We are Naiming and Misha, residents of 6652 S Steeple Ave, Meridian. We are writing to express our deep concern regarding Timbercreek Recycling's petition to continue and expand its operations. Since we moved into our home last year, we have frequently experienced severe and unpleasant odors emanating from their facility. When we purchased our home, we understood that Timbercreek Recycling had committed to ceasing operations once new residents moved into the area. Given the rapid growth of Meridian and the increasing number of new homes in our neighborhood, we believe it is time for Timbercreek Recycling to honor that commitment. We have tolerated the odor under the assumption that the operations would soon end. Therefore, we were shocked and dismayed to learn that Timbercreek Recycling is now seeking to extend and expand its activities. The odors from Timbercreek Recycling are truly unbearable. Many residents, including those who visit Discovery Park, have complained about the smell. When we take our baby for a walk in the evenings, we are often forced to return home early due to the foul odor. Even inside our home, if a window is slightly open, the odor seeps in, causing significant discomfort and frustration. This is not just an occasional inconvenience—it is a persistent issue that negatively impacts our quality of life. We understand that some of our neighbors have also voiced their concerns, though not everyone is aware of the source of these odors. As we continue to inform our community, it is clear that the presence of Timbercreek Recycling is a growing issue. This neighborhood is rapidly expanding, with Discovery Park, the Meridian Library, and other amenities drawing many Meridian residents to this area. We firmly believe that Timbercreek Recycling’s operations are incompatible with the residential nature of our community. The odors, noise, truck traffic, and dust generated by their activities are not only a nuisance but also a detriment to the health and well-being of our community. We respectfully urge the City Council to consider the needs and concerns of the residents in this fast-growing area. We ask that you vote against Timbercreek Recycling’s request to modify their development agreement or any measures that would allow them to continue operations. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued efforts to support and protect our community. Sincerely, Naiming and Misha 6652 S Steeple Ave Meridian, ID 1
