Subject:Re: Timber Creek Recycling Facility Amendment
External Sender - Please use caution with links or attachments.
Dear Meridian City Council:
We strongly oppose the proposed 2024 amendment to the Timber Creek Recycling Facility agreement. We
are members of the Pinnacle Community residing at 1771 E. Spire St. (Meridian 83642).
Section 6.8.2 of the current agreement between the City and Facility (2019) states the Facility will cease
operations in 30 days following the development of residential dwellings within 1000 ft of the Facility. Such
development has already taken place as evidenced by the 1000ft vicinity map included in the application
folder. We are urging you to enforce this provision of the current agreement and terminate their operations
and therefore deny their application for an extension.
Furthermore, the Odor Plan from the 2019 Extension is not being adhered to/or enforced. The odors coming
from the Facility are creating nuisance conditions to the surrounding areas. At times the odors are so strong
that we are unable to be outside. There is also considerable dust being emitted from the Facility as well.
Finally, any extension and expansion of the Facility poses significant environmental and safety risks to the
surrounding community.
When we purchased our home in June 2023, it was with the understanding and knowledge of the current
agreement in place that Timbercreek would cease to operate in their current location by the end of 2024.
We urge you to VOTE NO on their request to amend/extend the current agreement in place and instead
enforce section 6.8.2 of the current agreement as there is now residential dwellings within 1000 ft of the
Facility.
Thank you for your consideration-
Scott and Rochelle Hersley
