To the Mayor and Members ofthe City Council
The December 3, 2002 City Council agenda includes a time for approval of planning
and zoning recommendations relative to a request from Cherry Lane Christian
Church for a series of city <approvals. We have accepted theP&Z
recommendations.
However, subsequent to tbe P&Z hearing, we have been unable to .reach agreement
with the Nampa-Meridian Irrigation Company, ACHD,and more specifically the
Corps of Army Engineers about covering a portion of the Nine-mile ditch: We'
recognized from the outset.that this would be a difficult taskto obtain everyone's
approval. At thiS time,we would like tl! put this portion oftheP&Z
, rec.ommendations on hold and let us reconsider the ditch covering option. Very .'
honestly, the whole wetlands issue with the Corps of Engineers and the cost '
estimates for completing the covering have caused us to give this idea a second look.
We would urge the remainder of the recommendations relative to rezoning, ,a
conditional use permit for some. minor remodeling and approval of a pre-school to
start next Fall be. accepted by the counciL '
