Dear Meridian planners- I had planned on speaking at tonight’s public hearing, but am unable to attend. The concerns I have about putting a bank at this location is that we are in need of so many other retail and dining options. Perhaps the last thing that is needed in South Meridian is another bank or credit union. There is already a credit union in this plaza. A quick google search that the city of Meridian has currently MORE THAN 50 BANKS AND CREDIT UNIONS.https://www.google.com/maps/search/banks+and+credit+unions+in+meridian+idaho/@43.56 10995,-116.3696973,13z/data=!4m2!2m1!6e2?authuser=0&entry=ttu 1 What south Meridian does not need is one more bank or storage facility. We are in desperate need of sit down dining establishments (not drive thru or fast food), a gas station, small boutique-type shopping, and fine dining. We have one grocery store, thank goodness, but that’s pretty much it. I live between Victory & Amity, and Eagle Rd & Cloverdale. Recently, our daughter and son in law came to visit to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. For some reason, the City of Eagle has been very good at attracting shopping and dining options. I made a reservation for a fine dining restaurant in Eagle for the 4 of us at 4:30 on a Friday. Despite leaving our home at 3:45pm, we were late for our reservation. Arriving frazzled and irritated to a celebratory dinner kind of kills the mood. But the traffic on Eagle Road is so bad, and Cloverdale is only two lanes, there is just no moving heading north. I am telling you this story so that you can see that if we had sit down restaurants south of Victory we would not have had to experience this. Not to mention that Meridian will not receive our sales tax revenue from this. We now have to drive to downtown Boise for nice restaurants. We have many large communities south of Victory, filled with people who would love to support a small business. I understand that there are many moving parts to all of this, but the consensus amongst folks here is that the developers always come out on top. Once they receive their money, they’re gone. We, on the other hand, are left with whatever crumbs they’ve thrown our way. I am appealing to you to stop yet another bank being built when so many other business types are so needed in South Meridian. Sincerely, Joy Livingston 4320 S Selatir Way 2
