Dear Members of the Planning and Zoning Committee,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the proposed development of another apartment complex in
our city. I am voicing my opposition. As a long-time resident and concerned citizen of Meridian, I believe it is
crucial to carefully consider the implications of further dense housing developments in our community.
One of my primary concerns is the density of apartments being squeezed into a relatively small area. While
growth is inevitable and can be beneficial, it is equally important to ensure that our city's development aligns
with maintaining a high quality of life for its residents. Meridian has prided itself on being a desirable place to
live, and I fear that overdevelopment of residential spaces could compromise this reputation.
It seems that our priorities in the development of Meridian may be misaligned. Rather than focusing solely on
increasing housing density, we should prioritize creating a balanced and sustainable environment that
enhances the overall well-being of our community. This includes adequate consideration for infrastructure
such as schools and transportation networks.
I urge the Planning and Zoning Department to carefully assess whether our current infrastructure can support
the influx of residents that such developments would bring. Adequate school capacity and road infrastructure
capable of handling increased traffic are essential components of sustainable growth. While the financial
benefits associated with new developments are enticing, we must not lose sight of the fact that Meridian is
more than just a collection of buildingsāit is a home to its citizens.
In conclusion, I respectfully request that the Planning and Zoning Department take into account these
concerns as you deliberate on the approval of another apartment complex. Let us strive to serve the best
interests of our current residents and ensure that any future growth enhances rather than diminishes the
unique character of our city.
Thank you for considering my perspective on this matter. I look forward to hearing the outcomes of your
deliberations.
Sincerely,
Katie Manwaring
